Starting a computer build (sometime)

Recommended Posts

Ok so here's the deal. I just recently switched schools and majors. No longer at the University of Phoenix Online, instead I'm attending The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division. I'm going for a degree in Graphic Design. Anyways even though my laptop is powerful enough to run things like Photoshop CS6 Extended, After Effects CS6 and so forth, some reason the fact the I'm running Windows 8 on it seems to cause problems. So I borrowed my Gandpa's computer which runs Windows 7, not a bad computer but it's a loaner. I'm hoping to build a computer once I get the funds in place, but not sure where to start though. Already have a case so I'm saving money there. I want to try and keep the build around $600-700 if possible. I mean I can always upgrade later. What should I look for? For now this computer will be strictly school use only. The laptop does pretty well with games.

One thing to remember, laptops will never perform the same as a desktop even with identical specifications. Also, if you would like to upgrade later on. Focus on getting a really nice motherboard so it will be less stressful finding things that can match down the road.

The computer needs to run more than just Photoshop, but illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash Pro, and few others that I can't think of. Still I think for a build that's going to be around $600 when all said and done is going to work out just fine.
