I heard down firing the box can help out in a soft top. Might want to give that a try.

Ok , I assume this box will play about to 30 hz?

Oneway, I've searched all over to find anyone building a system for a convertible let alone a samurai and have come up empty handed. Ill keep that in mind though.

No it can play below 30Hz if tuned to 30Hz, even if cabin gain is very weak. And yes there are some down firing designs to try out as well.

I positioned my prefab all different ways and the best output on 400 ish watts was sub and port forward so that's what I was basing my design on.

From my experience with my rockford fosgate t2 15 (yes I know its a different sub) is I can play about 9hz below tuning before I get a steep drop off.

Tuned it to 32Hz which will let it play a little below 30Hz while not loosing much loudness compared to the 34Hz tuning.

As for other designs, yes you can look into ported down firing boxes.
