wowfun2 Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Okay this is going to sound weird for you guys I had to bring my car to the shop get my front bumper shine up... some old women scratch my car no big deal. Anyway... I got my car back on that day which would be 21 of June I wanted to play some music most strange thing ever happen to me when I cranked the volume a hard hitting bass came in then suddenly it disappeared just for one second... then resume and never happened again on my way back home 10 mins drive. Okay so on the next few days it been working fine no problem at all... weird I know right? However, yesterday it was a bad day where is 100 degrees outside my amplifier was running hot and the bass got cut out many.. times amp went into protection mode the amp self is warm/hot I'd say I could still touch it long as I can but it was hot... so I thought it overheated I let it cool down for about 20-30 mins with A/C on and amp was pretty cool but it still haven't returned back from protection mode sometimes it would though. I had to force restart my car and amp came back normal and I was able to bump for next 10 mins and went protect again... driving me crazy! So I arrived home I took my subs out to see if my subs is failing or not I checked with my DMM and it was reading 2.5 Ohms both are Dual voice coil at 2 Ohms picture showed here: A closer look Now I rechecked my wiring on my amp everything looks normal to me nothing been changed since I never had problem before. Lastly, today it just have gotten worse my amp would shut down not even in protection mode but then it comes back normal and resume and back to protection mode. However there is one thing I have noticed that my system even sounds louder then I expected it seems the voltage went higher somehow or somebody must have touched something while my car was in shop. Tomorrow I'm going to check my grounding and redo the gain setting see what the problem is. I know the amp is still alive and not causing this Oh and amp I'm using Kenwood 9105D. I've posted many times about same problems but I don't know what to say. Before the day my car went into shop... never had a single bass cut off problems it was working all day, everyday until this bullcrap! What are the other ways to look into... I know I'm going to check my rewiring again especially the grounding again and my gain settings. 2 12 Kickers CVR | Kenwood 9105D @ 2 Ohms | Box tuned 39 hertz low custom | Nissan Maxima 01 SE 3.5 | I have no idea what my dB at "If you hear me Booming around the block then you better be prepared to call the police on me before I drive-by your house!" wowfun2 Posted June 26, 2013 Author Report Posted June 26, 2013 is it possible that someone screwed with your gains to "make it louder"? To be honest I highly doubt that but I would assume that it seems I am getting more voltage and I can tell that my system got louder somehow. 2 12 Kickers CVR | Kenwood 9105D @ 2 Ohms | Box tuned 39 hertz low custom | Nissan Maxima 01 SE 3.5 | I have no idea what my dB at "If you hear me Booming around the block then you better be prepared to call the police on me before I drive-by your house!" kickass audio Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 It could be that someone else screwed with your gains while it was in the shop. I had my windshield replaced 3 times and the very first time the dumbasses at the shop tried to get my system to play because my volume and bass knobs were moved from their minimum positions and they tried to get the radio on as there were finger prints all over it when I had it cleaned off before it went in. The idiots didn't screw with my gains but it was still an attempt to hear just how loud my system was. I would double check your gains and any bass boost and turn off the bass boost and adjust the gain as needed since they may have screwed with it on you. 2004 GMC Envoy1 XS power S3400 batt under the hood and 4 XS Power D3100's battery installed in the rear by the amps0 gauge power wire from front to backAlpine iva-w205 touchscreen dvd/cd/mp3/ipod/am/fm/gps headunitSundown Audio SAX-200.4 amp for my mids and highs8 gauge speaker wire from amp to woofer270 amp Mechman AltRockford Fosgate T1652-s component speakersRockford Fosgate 3Sixty.2 sound processorRca's from Rockford Fosgate and Monster Cable14 gauge speaker wire for the mids and highs1 18" Ascendant Audio SMD Dual 1 ohm with custom Black & Blue carbon fiber and hand signed dustcapBox: 5.66 cubic feet net volume box tuned to 30.13Hz with 1.5" wide wooden dowels and 1.5" thick baffle1 DC Audio 5.0k amp wired to .5 ohms nominal with an imp rise of 1.35 ohms for the single AA SMD 18"Future Vision 8000k 50w bi-xenon projector HID's with 4300k 35w fog lightsLink to my build: Buildupdates/progress
Jessica Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 I looked through your other posts and you do know this is a common problem with this amp. For one, its power hungry, fused @ 90 amps, so you need decent electrical to support it two, if you clip at all this is what it does. I out cooling fans on mine and it helped, but not always. Basically what i am telling you is stop clipping the shit out of it and it will stop doing this. Although, it may be too late for your amp since it has done this so many times.
