Flat speaker wire

Recommended Posts

I've used flat speaker wire in commercial audio applications and from a sound quality/power handling standpoint, I've noticed no difference in it and the round stuff of the same gauge.

I know that flat wound wire is used in voice coils to allow for better heat dissipation. But other than that I can't think of anything.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

I think it is too, but I think the reason is because if you run under carpet or whatever then it won't show as much being flat.

Not disagreeing just saying what it might be used as. I can't see a reason why not to use it in car audio.

I remember seeing it on a website, monster cable or something and that flat speaker wire was pretty pricey. Put it in front of me and see if I dont use it! :morepower1:
