Does it charge batteries without having to be plugged into a wall socket? kickass audio Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 omg. Yes you need to have power to get power thus it needs to get power from the wall outlet to charge your batteries. I don't know if this is a good charger as I don't think these go into float mode where its not at 14.4v+ of power when the batteries are fully charged. This is more of a device used to keep your batteries up if you had the engine off or if you used it on a test bench to power some things. I would get an XS power intellicharger if I were you.
