Stealing Morphine

What kind of lowlife scum live in this world?

Is a rant of sorts, sorry.

So my grandfather has been brought to my parents house on Hospice after issues with his deteriorating health. After 3 strokes, renal kidney failure and a few infections the past two months, we've stopped his dialysis and we are letting him go in peace. If any of you know how Hospice works in these situations, they make everything comfortable for those nearing the end. With that being said, he's been provided a generous amount of dissolving Morphine tablets and some other meds to make his time with us as easy and pain-free as possible. Now this is a large close knit family, so these past four days my parents house has seen 30+ visitors a day, some coming all the way from northern Cali to visit. My entire immediate family has been in shambles and my grandmother hardly can keep her composure.

So, amidst all this emotional distress, some fuck decides to snag 14 out of the 28~ Morphine pills we have left to give to my Gramps to ease his going.

I am at a loss for words here, honestly. Who steals a dying mans pain medication, honestly? The man is in seething pain without these pills, and it takes the pharmacy damn near a whole day to get more delivered. We're on his last five since he gets them every hour, and the pharmacy takes a while. The family who knows about it has a good idea who it was (the druggie boyfriend of one of my aunts) who is almost always strung out. He offered to give my gramps his meds and only an hour before we noticed the pills were missing. To top it all off his lazy ass was in our back room passed out on the bed for a good 3+ hours after we found the medicine missing.

I'm so fucking angry, but I can't do anything about it because this isn't the time/place to be causing any trouble. There's a gang of family who already don't like this fucker, but we can't exactly prove it was him without causing a scene.

Anyway, I just needed to rant or something. I can't fucking believe someone would stealing a dying mans only means of peaceful going. Makes me sick.

that's fucking crazy, I knew this girl who used to steal her granmas ocs when her granma could barely damn move with them and without them she was so pitiful...Junkies just don't give a fuck about other people...That guy needs his ass whooped one good time...scratch that maybe a couple times lol

wow, thats fucked up. i work in a hospital and hospice aka hot spice i call it. it breaks my heart seeing those ppl up there, bc normally they are they bc they are nearing the end like you said. i hope you find who it was, im sorry for your grandfarther, ill keep you in my prayers

The sad thing is, we called the visiting hospice nurse and explained the whole thing. She comes back with "It's alright, it's nothing new".

Some advice if you'd like.

When my gramps was on Hospice a couple years ago for cancer we gave him some hemp oil under his tongue. He was bad and wouldn't move or talk. After we gave it to him he perked right up like he was just fine while it was in his system. Same with my uncle. Just last week he was on Hospice They gave him hemp oil and he perked up. He passed that same week though, it just runs in the family. If your family is not against it maybe you could try. I understand it's different medical conditions.. I don;t know how it would work in his case.

hemp oil? im glad it worked in your case, you can always bring that up to your family man. i hate seeing ppl go in pain..

I could suggest it, I'm not sure how the family would all come to an agreement on it though.

He's nearing the end though. His BP was 70/40 or something and his HR was around 50. Hospice nurse suggested to prepare for sometime tonight or early tomorrow. He's been asleep the past two days anyway, so I'm not sure if the oil would affect much.

Right now were just watching & waiting 24/7.

There's a shitstorm to be had once everything is said and done, however.

Sorry to hear about your grandpa Arthur. But like you said, don't do anything right now with your grandfather in the situation that he is in. Hope he goes quickly and quietly and is in no pain man.
