brent379 Posted July 28, 2013 Report Posted July 28, 2013 So right now I'm running 4 10s at a 1 ohm load of an aq2200d. I want more power and was thinking about getting another aq2200d and strapping them but audioque says to run them at 2 ohm. My question is does strapping amps change the final ohm load?? If not what happens if you run amps strapped under the rated ohm load??
Katt Posted July 28, 2013 Report Posted July 28, 2013 When you strap, You have to raise the final ohm load, it gets split in half, for each amp. Wiring at two ( 2 ) will make each amp see one ohm load, Or as in strapping at one, each amp see's .5. And so on. So whatever your final ohm load on your subs is, is split to what each amp see's. If that makes any sense at all, to you. And running strapped under rated ohm load, will void warranty. And, can potentially blow your amp. While its not recomended, you can get away with it. I personally, am gonna strap at 1.4, so each amp see's .7, but that's just me. And its my own fault if something shits the bed. But with doing that, you have to make sure your electrical is very good. *06 330i - Sundern x12 - saz-3500* *91 Foxbody V1 S-Trim Notch*
tacomaguy1 Posted July 28, 2013 Report Posted July 28, 2013 When strapping each amp sees 1/2 the total load. So if you strap at 1ohm each amp would be at .5 Team Flex Issues
brent379 Posted July 28, 2013 Author Report Posted July 28, 2013 Oooooooo ok I got it now. So then if I wire the subs to a 4 ohm load then each amp would see 2 ohm then right??? If so then tht would be perfect!!
Katt Posted July 28, 2013 Report Posted July 28, 2013 Yep. You got it. Not sure if ya know how to strap or not. But might as well throw it here. Connect negatives on both amps together, with jumper wires. Master amp, with your gain settings, and switch set to master is your positive sub wire output. Slave amp, slave switch, is your negative sub wire output. ( But you will be using the positive terminals on this amp for your negative sub wires. ) And thats basically that, lol. Any other question's, we're here for that! *06 330i - Sundern x12 - saz-3500* *91 Foxbody V1 S-Trim Notch*
brent379 Posted July 28, 2013 Author Report Posted July 28, 2013 When ur talking about jumping te negative from amp to amp your talking about the speaker terminal negatives right?? How do you hook up the rcas?
