Watch the bass Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 If you power your Q with the AQ 2200 in your sig. So you do it right, you have a smaller box than threw the spec´s, so you have to overpower your sub. On you side i would build a new slotported box, where the slot facing the back of the trunk on the left side. "in the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty" Bob Marley
Cox Posted July 31, 2013 Author Report Posted July 31, 2013 Well right now my electrical is not up to par so it is being under powered but I do plan to get a mechman 240 but I most likely will not get another battery. But I feel like after box rise even with new alt it will not be over powering it and the 12 would be fine in the larger box. shogen Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 I am always more cautious with my equipment... I wouldn't account for box rise as you have not measured it AND box rise isn't a consistent thing, each frequency will affect that number... too many variables... at least that's what I do Well right now my electrical is not up to par so it is being under powered but I do plan to get a mechman 240 but I most likely will not get another battery. Cox Posted August 1, 2013 Author Report Posted August 1, 2013 So basically, its either going to be this or this. Kenwood Excelon x396AQ2200Fi Q 12XS D3400 XS XP30001/0 RADAFLEXStinger volt meter Mechman 240a alt
Cox Posted August 1, 2013 Author Report Posted August 1, 2013 However, I really want to hit the lows, so I am leaning toward the lower tuning. I could also tune lower with the same amount of port area and and space with the 12. I just don't know how low I can go without being able to hit any of the higher notes. Any opinions on the above boxes? Kenwood Excelon x396AQ2200Fi Q 12XS D3400 XS XP30001/0 RADAFLEXStinger volt meter Mechman 240a alt
Joe X Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 I see a lot of unused space in that pic. I bet you can do a 15" box properly in there if you really try.

See how the top curves down aswell as the bottom curves in, well it makes it pretty difficult to deal with. Ill keep trying cardboard boxes and see what I can do. But what airspace and port area per foot do you think i should shoot for. Electrical will be a mechman 240 amp alt, xs d3400, one run of 1/0 going to the rear, the amp is grounded in the back of the car, and big three in 1/0. The amp is a AQ2200 Kenwood Excelon x396AQ2200Fi Q 12XS D3400 XS XP30001/0 RADAFLEXStinger volt meter Mechman 240a alt
Joe X Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 A box about the same/similar as you have right now but tall enough to fit the sub vertically mounted ( like 16 1/2" ) something like in your first drawing, 3.8 cubes net @32Hz, about 55 square inches of port, double layer baffle, that would be nice on the lows. Also bear in mind you can sometimes get the box inside the trunk by removing your backseats.

I know I can't get that height going through the trunk opening and I just went and measured behind the back seats (already had them out) and it can only get like 13.5 inches under it.
