lilwillywilly Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 Just picked up an hcca 10.4 Building a box today. Shooting for 2.5 cubes, tuned to 30hz. I'm not looking for someone to design me a box. Just need a bit of help on how much port I need. I'm either going to do a single 4" round, or a slot port, not sure yet, lol. I listen to rap and dubstep, and love the low lows. Any advice, tips, and or pointers? Thanks in advance guys.
bkolfo4 Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 4" aero or ~30 sqin of port area for a slot. Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

Hugh G. Rection Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 port size is gonna depend on a multitude of things. just the first few that come to mind are enclosure volume, tuning, amount of power, and position in the vehicle as it related the amount of forward pressure on the sub vs the back pressure of the sub inside the enclosure. its alot more complicated than just a generic rule of thumb port area.
