Receiver for under $300?

Recommended Posts

Time to upgrade. What are some excellent receivers in this price range? I have no clue what's good so I'm asking here. Maybe someone knows.

The Pioneer Elites are really nice in the $300-400 range on Amazon (previous year models being clearanced).

For $300, you can get the VSX-823. It is a nice receiver.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

I picked up the Pioneer VSX-1122 last year around the holiday for $360ish. Newegg and Amazon had great prices in November and best buy price matched. My brother got the 1022 for around 250 I think. I'm running 7.1 with the pioneer Andrew jones speakers with front height and I love it. 6 or 7 hdmi ins, hdmi passthru, phone and tablet app, works for streaming from devices easily, good eq and TA.
