03 Xtreme Fosgate Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 I haven't and don't use any Sundown products so can't give an opinion but these 6.5 subs look beastly. I'd rather go with the DD's if it were me though. Can't say anything about the JL 6.5 sub that Stang suggested but I just think they're a little too proud of their products. All my opinions though, here's the post about the Sundowns. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/172919-sundown-x-65sw-video-and-pictures/ BUILD LOG-http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179004-03-s10-xtreme-ext-cab-rf-build/ PHOTOBUCKET- http://s1354.beta.photobucket.com/user/03XtremeFosgate/library/truck%20audio%20rebuild
Scott MacGyverjonez Evans Posted August 14, 2013 Author Report Posted August 14, 2013 The price of the sundown is a lot more attractive than the DD. I know you get what you pay for, I'm a big believer in that, but I'm just a guy that wants his music to sound good, not trying to win any contests.
03 Xtreme Fosgate Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 Guess it depends on your dealer too. I just spoke to mine about a pair of DD W6.5's and he's supposed to sell at $160 but doing $140 for me.. Either way they should do what you want them to,I just know the DD's look beefy since I've seen them in person. That video of the Sundown shows that it's no joke either.. Good luck with it BUILD LOG-http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179004-03-s10-xtreme-ext-cab-rf-build/ PHOTOBUCKET- http://s1354.beta.photobucket.com/user/03XtremeFosgate/library/truck%20audio%20rebuild
Scott MacGyverjonez Evans Posted August 14, 2013 Author Report Posted August 14, 2013 Hmmm... I'd pay that compared to what I saw online. I'll have to shop around
03 Xtreme Fosgate Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 If you're wanting them to use as subs then you should look at the DD SW6.5,it's actually a subwoofer.. The W6.5 is more of a high powered midbass but can still be used as a sub. Scott MacGyverjonez Evans Posted August 15, 2013 Author Report Posted August 15, 2013 That does look pretty serious. Lol Yes..... I'm looking at it
Skullz Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 Going sub less is a terrible option as there are not many speakers capable of playing full range and giving you any kind of bass that sounds good, and the ones that will can be damaged from over excursion over time. I know cause i went sub less for quite a while and have a list of speakers that failed over the few year's i went sub less, JBL, Hertz, Polk, Pioneer and a few others that played and sounded good but were just not meant to take that kind of abuse. Even if you only get an 8" single sub it will cover everything under 100hz and sound amazing for what it will do to complete the low end of the spectrum, then your options open up to a much wider range of speakers to choose from. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
Scott MacGyverjonez Evans Posted August 15, 2013 Author Report Posted August 15, 2013 I'm all for an 8" sub if I can find a place for it. Anyone here familiar with 1st gen crv's know any good places to stick one? I really don't want it interfering with removing the gold up table in the back cargo area
