Scott MacGyverjonez Evans Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 I'm sure this is crazy talk around here, but I'm way out of the loop on car audio and need some info. I just picked up a 2000 Honda crv with 6.5" in the doors and rear panels in the cargo area. I intend to do a lot of camping with the crv, the entire cargo floor is a table with fold up legs. I don't want to put a sub back there then have to fight with that and getting the table in and out constantly. I'm wondering if I could get away with 2 sets of these https://www.skaraudio.com/products/speakers/component-speaker-systems/skar-audio-vxi65-6-5-component-speaker-system.html And one of these https://www.skaraudio.com/products/amplifiers/lp-series/lp-60-4ab-multichannel-amplifier.html Although, if anyone has a really creative way to have a sub and it not interfere with the usefulness of the crv, I'm all ears
Guest DC Power Kyle Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 Honestly if you want something that absolutely gets down, look at hertz high energy or mille.
Hellbilly429 Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 If you want to hear anything below 58hz then no, if you don't care then sure. Have you thought about doing a subwoofer enclosure for an 8" subwoofer or even a smaller subwoofer like this http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=264-832 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log
Jskiles Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 I had a set of the vxi components and I wouldn't use them if you were trying to play below their frequency. They sounded ok but not great. I don't know if it would work but you could make kick panels and put some 8 in subs in them. 2010 Kia Forte Koup (Slow Build) 2 Sundown SCV-3000D 2 DC XL M1 with PSI reconesFocal R-165s2 on Orion 4800-HPKenwood KDC-X798Knukonceptz OFC 1/0Audiotechnix,Fatmat and Q-mat Deadener XS power D3400 up front 3 D3100s power in trunkStock 110 amp alt 2013 Scion TC 2 Dc lvl 3s with xl coils on Soundqubed 2200 Sundown components AA 50.2 for components Pioneer FH-X700BT Knukonceptz OFC 1/0 Fatmat and Q-mat Deadener XS Power D3100 up front D925 in back Mechman 240 alt http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/189911-2013-scion-tc-build/ <Scion TC Build http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/174094-jskiles-forte-koup/ <Slow Kia Forte Buildhttp://www.stevemead...ockUserAgent__1 < Old build 2005 Equinox
Scott MacGyverjonez Evans Posted August 14, 2013 Author Report Posted August 14, 2013 I did consider trying to stuff an 8" sub or two somewhere, just not sure where. If the E brake wasn't on the floor, then between the front seats would be a great location. Also, I don't think kick panels are an option, not a lot of foot room in the 1st gen crv. I'd like to hear that hertz stuff in person, a video can't really relay the quality, but it does sound pretty good in those videos

I believe Sundown audio has a new 6.5" subwoofer coming out.. DD already has a 6.5" sub out that gets down pretty good BUILD LOG-http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179004-03-s10-xtreme-ext-cab-rf-build/ PHOTOBUCKET- http://s1354.beta.photobucket.com/user/03XtremeFosgate/library/truck%20audio%20rebuild
OrionStang Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 The JL 6.5" sub is pretty nice. Do you have pics of the cargo area? I'm sure there is a way to do a sub in an out-of-the-way location. If you are willing to cut panels and do some glass work. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Scott MacGyverjonez Evans Posted August 14, 2013 Author Report Posted August 14, 2013 how about under the backseats? a row of four 8" or 6.5" woofers would be cool There is no under the backseat. It's all gas tank. That was the first place I looked. Lol. I'll check into dealer locations and see if I can check them out in person. I haven't even remotely looked into car audio since high school, roughly 15 years ago. I'm way out of the loop on what stuff is out there. Also, I understand HZ measurements, but have no clue how low the music I listen to goes.
Brandon Bebo Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 i will say that hertz setup sounds nice even in the video i wanna hear it in person!
