bass head 219 Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 Ok so here's what I have going on I'm looking for 2 new subs and I was wondering what would be better. Would it be better if I a 4 ohm dvc and bring them down to 1 ohm or if I should get a 2 ohm dvc and keep it at 2 until I can get an amp that can run .5 ohm
Skullz Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 What ohm load do you intend on running which will determine what coil configuration you'll want to get, once you know the ohm load your running it is just a matter of picking what fits. EDIT: Your widest selection of amps will be @ 1 ohm final load. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
Noel989 Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 1 4ohm dvc wont get you 1ohm it would be 2ohms get 1 4ohm dvc wire to 2, so when you get the second sub you can wire it to 1 ohm Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/

bass head 219 Posted August 15, 2013 Author Report Posted August 15, 2013 Well I wanted to go to 1 ohm cause the amp I got can go as low as 1 and I thought that you could wire a 2 ohm dvc down to a 1 on a mono amp but I realized that you can't so I was just wondering if it would be better to just get the 2 4ohm dvc and get the 1 ohm I wanted or if it would be better to get the 2 ohm ones and save up for an amp that can handle .5 ohms

jarrius Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 I would go duel 4's as someone already said more amps avabile at 1ohm over .5. Also for what I'm understanding running at .5 ohms required a strong electrical 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
81000D Posted August 15, 2013 Report Posted August 15, 2013 It's a lot more work and$$$ to run at .5 than one ohm and why would want to run .5 anyways unless your going to compet. Just my .02
bass head 219 Posted August 15, 2013 Author Report Posted August 15, 2013 Well thanks for you're input cause I have no one here to talk to about this and I just wanted to get some outside options so I'm gonna go with the 2 4 ohm dvc subs cause that does seem like a better set up cause this is gonna be my first 15in sub set up running on a dvc subs
jarrius Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 What car are you going to put them in 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
