ive ordered a recone for my blown SP4 18, I want the widest frequency range possible and i want the most volume possible out of what ever subs i have. i dont like the extreme peaks that i have with my 35hz box but did like the high range i had with my 46hz tuned box but missed the low end. once i get this sp4 rebuilt should i keep it or is there some other sub i should look into? perhaps 2 q's or another brand all together? i dont want to add another amp and ive got the ZX2500.1 now so thats where im at. I love hearing the sweeping frequencies in my music and bass but i just dont feel like they are there with my SP4, they were with the BL but that was also in a much higher tuned box. i feel like the response curve was more linear in the higher frequency tune, could this be the case?

i dont care if i have to build a new box i just want to have a better system. driving around now with my mids i can hear so many more frequencies and subtle changes in the music than i can with my sub hooked up.

nothing, gutted

I wouldn't go towards to Qs because they're not very musical at all and are mainly for the lows. Could always just keep the SP4 and built a 4th order

I've always heard exactly opposite about the Q's. From what I've heard, they are more SQ orientated but can still dig super low and pound out. If it was me though, I'd get a pair of SSD 10's or 12's and tune to 33 or 34, of course running off that zx2500.1

ok, now im entering into an area that i do not know enough about. i understand sealed, bracing, and standard vented tuning. i only just recently built my first vented box so i do not understand how to do the math on a 4th order. where can i go to read up on this?

4th order is wayyyy too much work. Play around with your current setup, make an interchangeable port, blah blah. Then decide on new sub's. Base model ssd 10s are like $220 each. Fully loaded is like $315 each.

SP4 in the proper box is the way I would go. Your SP4 caught on fire right?

Id get a good box design and get the most out of the sub you HAVE

SSDs are a downgrade from the SP4 in my opinion. Q's may be an option with the power you have on tap.

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

i feel like my BL18 was considerably more responsive than the SP4. i can play with my box a bit and lower the tuning but this 4th order sounds really good and i think i want to try it if only for the experience. where can i read up or get a box design for this?

ok so from what i have read the order refers to the cross over and not the box. a 1st order being a 6db cross over and a 4th order being a 24db octave. so my kicker has a 24db built in so im already running a 4th order system, no?

nothing, gutted
