Krakin Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 What I got was 439 in2 for the port for 1 18" at 45hz. 878 in2 if you decide to make both in the same box. I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.
ncc74656 Posted August 18, 2013 Author Report Posted August 18, 2013 holy balls that's a lot of port... ok so where can i read up on what needs to be what with ports? so 439 squared for a single sub, the math i got was 128 squared for one Fi 18 in a single vented box. i have no idea how to math it out for a 4th order but are both of your numbers for a 4th order? can you show your work so i can figure out how it works? thanks. nothing, gutted
matt14 Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Try and email FI and email and find out what they would recommend to run for a 4th order or find someone who has done it. Or you can always try it out and let us know how it worked out for ya 2006 GMC YukonPioneer HU SHCA ran throughout Crescendo BC3500 One 18 AA Mayhem in a 4th order ZED Levithian 6 channel Rainbow Dual 6.5 comps ran Activehttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155628-matt14s-yukon-mayhem-in-a-4th-ordernew-amps-and-bats/page-3
Krakin Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 I haven't fully learned how to calculate 4th order ports so i use this right now. http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? ncc74656 Posted August 18, 2013 Author Report Posted August 18, 2013 for the life of me i cant get that much port out of this box... i would basically have the entire side of the box off and i would some how need a 26 inch port. hmmmm nothing, gutted
CleanSierra Posted August 18, 2013 Report Posted August 18, 2013 Think of a port similar to a blowthrough on a truck. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
ncc74656 Posted August 18, 2013 Author Report Posted August 18, 2013 i dont know much about a blow through. i iwll need to read up on that. here is a redesign, there is an additional .33 cubic that is not factored into torres from where the sub itself faces out of the sealed box. by my math this will lower the tuning to 45.8 and the net volume raise to 8.93 nothing, gutted
