Jessica Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Does anyone have experience with the toolmaker battery terminals for batteries with top posts (sae type) I made my own with 1/4" and it seems its a bitch to tighten them down. Looking at theirs they seem like it might be worse since they are way thicker. Just wondering who has used them, and how well they tighten down on the post. Pioneerchuck Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 I used one for a couple weeks while I was waiting for new wire. Id recommend them. You gotta put a little force into tightening them but they hold pretty good.
aimone Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 the key is hole that slides on the battery needs to have a taper to it. because the post itself is slightly tapered. i work in a machine shop and have had blocks of aluminium for months but havent done it because i dont wanna fork out the cash on a tapered reamer.
shogen Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 my issue with the TM ones is the first one broke... snapped at the corner where you tighten so it was very loose... he got a new set out to me very quickly but they just don't fit on tight/tight ... I can wiggle them off with a little effort... I had a thread on another forum where he had a vendor spot for a longer time... since its in the rear I left it alone...
