shakeablegoose Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 I am looking at building a center console sub box for my 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 LS Extended Cab. I recently picked up two Sundown Audio e8v3 D4 subs for $140 New and wanted to build a center console box in replacement for the factory front middle seat. I was thinking ported with the port at the bottom facing back towards the rear seat, or should I go sealed? I will be building the box out of 3/4" MDF and fiberglass If possible. If someone could build me a box design for the two subs that would be great because I do not know how. **What Frequency should I tune the box to, I think I know how I am going to build it (1.5 Cu. Ft. after displacement) but should I do the recommended 35hz or should I go 33hz, 32hz, or 30hz?**
john253a Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 Build it to 1.2-1.5 net Single 4" or 2x 3" aeros Tunning as low as you can get Bear in mind you'll be lucky to get 35hz let alone 33 or lower But if you design allows 32-33 is good if you like music that calls for it Other wise 35-42 for a good wide range of music My sa8v1.5 (very close to the e8) are at 33hz and I love them Personal if you can, put them under the rear seats if you have them fitted.
shakeablegoose Posted August 24, 2013 Author Report Posted August 24, 2013 I was going to do the center console box for something different and a nice little project, I am going to probably port it to 32hz with a slot port and 1.5 ft^3 after driver displacement.
john253a Posted August 24, 2013 Report Posted August 24, 2013 A 1.5net box for 2 e8 will be close to 2.5gross That is no small box I can tell you Take some measurement of what you to work with before you do anything Post them up here and see what will fit
