__d_a_v_i_d__ Posted August 23, 2013 Report Share Posted August 23, 2013 have both actually, i have 2 runs of positive going from front to the rear. 1 being ofc 1 being cca. . ..dropped to 13.8v full tilt with 7k starting at 0.7 ohms. only 2 batts in the back aswell.. with that being said. It's a FACT that OFC is better . The electrical conductivity of aluminum is 62% that of copper CCA has 30 - 40% greater resistance per foot than OFC of the same size. Most recommend using one to two cable sizes larger in CCA to get equivalent current carrying capacity as OFC. Ohms law is your friend here . . . it's a law, not just a good idea. There are loud cars with people using each wire. You just gotta know your own system and know how much wire you need, either cca or ofc or both. just know how much you need. that's pretty much it.
