Sound dampening questions

Hey guys, I finally got around to installing sound dampening in my car

Went with GTMat, because they are a local business and all

Anyways, got a few questions, hopefully you guys can give me some insight

1. I've eliminated most, if not all rattling and whatnot at lower frequencies, however at 40hz+ I'm still getting a lot of vibration and noise from the trunk, is there anyway to solve this? Do I just add more stuff?

2. I don't know if I'm completely crazy, but it seriously sounds like my system isn't as loud anymore, is this just because there isn't a horrendous amount of noise from the trunk, or did I break something?

Man.. not to be capt bring down.. but.. if your coming from the trunk, its a bitch to remove rattles.

Unless you fire forward, and are TOTALLY sealed off..... like.. totally.

My other option I was considering was to make a horn loaded enclosure with ports firing forward

This should give me the same affect that the location in the trunk gives me, while reducing total rattling

but with my luck it will burst into flames or something

Did u use gt mats butyl? Cuz the stuff is asphalt based otherwhise..

Yah, it was all butyl, even in a hot car it doesn't have any noticable smell

get some weather foam stripping and put it around the trunk.. for $4 it helped a lot in my case..

Im about to order some of the 110 stuff. Did you have any adhesion problems?

something you can try is to move the latch your trunk hooks on to, so it holds your trunk tighter to your car. and I have a car with the subs in the trunk and ive noticed that the metal bars that go across the bottom of the back dash to hold the trunk open shake like crazy. Im about to order some of the 110 stuff. Did you have any adhesion problems?

i would NOT order their 110 it is asphalt based and for deadining thats not good i would safe up and get some second skin or other real butly deadener but my gt mat (i regret usimg) i will admit it sticks great just orep the surface 100 degree summers and -10 winters it hasnt moved

I used some real cheap sound deadener. its called peel and seal from Lowes, its like $16 for a roll that's 6" by 25'. its not the absolute best but for its price cant beat it.
