CleanSierra
If it hasn't been mentioned yet, get your gains set with an oscilloscope or a DD-1. There are plenty of members on this site that have one or the other, or both pieces of equipment. Chances are, someone lives close enough to you and wouldn't mind helping. CleanSierra
And yes, I've heard that amp has heat issues and they like to go into protect mode often. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

RobertR
Dont those kenwood ampd have a issue with getting hot and cutting out? I thiught i read that somewhere iirc Yes they do. I had one of these for a few weeks. Even under the best of conditions you can fry an egg on it. Big 3 and an extra battery didnt make enough of a difference to justify the cost and it would still thermal. Normally i dont tell people to sell their gear and buy different stuff but my advise would be to craigslist the amp and grab a different one. Dont be scared to run used gear if your on a budget. Jessica
They have one fan as far as I know. I never had mine protect but the bass will fade out when it gets hot. If you don't clip at all, and I mean set with a dd-1 and you know you are not clipping it should run all day at 2ohm without issue. It will do 1 ohm but it will run hotter. I put fans on mine and it helped. Long story short, Kenwood is not the amp manufacturer it was pre 90's Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. Austin42156
Yesterday I upgraded my wire going from my battery to my amp from 4 gauge to 0 gauge. When I replaced the ground wire I grounded it in a different location that a lot of people have had a lot of luck with. I have noticed a lot less heat in my amp. My subs are wired at 2 ohms and the instruction manual for the amp says 900w @ 2 ohms. So if its doing 900 watts at 2 ohms. Does this mean Im getting 450 watts per sub or 900 watts per sub? - 1995 Pontiac Trans Am - 5.7 LT1 V8 - Kenwood Excelon x998 Deck - JL Audio XR650-CSI 6.5" 2-Way Component Speakers (In My Doors) - Crescendo Audio PWX 6.5" Mid Ranges (Right behind my seats) - (1) Kenwood KAC-9105d Monoblock Amplifier - (1) Kenwood X450/4, 4 Channel Amplifier - (2) Kenwood W3013ps 12" Subwoofers - Amps tuned with O-scope. - Stinger Roadkill Sound Deadening - F.A.S.T Rings by Mobile Solutions - Phoenix Gold and Stinger wiring
