frenziedcage Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 I posted a few days ago asking about certain amps I was gonna buy. I got to thinking about it more and I figured I would have better luck on choosing an amp if people just recommend a really good budget amp to me for $230 or less it needs to be a 1800wrms amp. It will be powering a PSI Platform 2 18" High Performance sub. If you can recommend anything just please post below I'm trying to get as many recommendations before I actually go and purchase my amp. Of course when I get more money I will be getting a high quality amp.
Guerra33 Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 1800 watts rms for $230 is going to be tough to find even for used Unless you want to go with something like Hifonic Brz series

frenziedcage Posted August 30, 2013 Author Report Posted August 30, 2013 Would the platform 2 18 be able to handle 2000wrms? I'm assuming it could handle up to 2500wrms. Any clarification?

mwjustic Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 You could probably find a used aq2200 for maybe a little more than that. Say 300. I would save just a little bit more and try to find yourself a korean board rather than hifonics or audiopipe. 2005 ford explorer xlt limited 4x4 2 xs power d3400s 2 runs of shca mid/ highs- infinity 6x8 3 ways 2 18 ssa icons 2 aq 1200.1 @ 2 ohms 10 cubes tuned to 36 hrz
ncochran Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 There is a guy on CACO selling the BRZ-2400 for $230 shipped. They do pretty close to rated (CEA compliant). I have been running a BRZ-2100 at .5 ohms with shoddy electrical for about 2 months now with no issues, so in my opinion it has held up pretty well lol. A used aq2200 would be a better quality choice I imagine if you could get a deal. If you go with a "budget" company, check up on them and make sure they are CEA compliant. For example.. Maxxsonics makes both Crunch and Hifonics. The Crunch amp that was tested a couple of weeks ago did only a fraction of it's rated power. The Hifonics BRZ line is certified to put out rated power. I clamped ~900W at 2 ohm with voltage falling just below 12V (rated = 1200 @ 14.4). Others have clamped right around rated as well. 2006 Scion xB 2 Sundown SA12D2 Ported at 32hz 147 on non termlab (140-142 on TL) Currently in a walled 4th @ 50hz (not metered yet) Hifonics brz2100 Alpine Type-S Components Kicker 300.2 Big 3 / Skyhigh 1/0 cca Optima Blue Top 3 e8s ported at 32hz 135.1 sealed on dash @ 56hz 135.0 outlaw (I must have chosen song poorly lol) Build log 'Brandon15zzz', on 09 May 2012 - 3:13 PM, said: May have been clipping but none fucks were givin.
