Krakin Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 Depends on the length of half the run of the circuit. This should get you in the ballpark Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

Krakin Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 The chart above tells you what gauge wire to use. You get how many amps are being given to the driver. Then measure how long the run from the positive to negative speaker terminal is. Then half that number. For example take my design, the total wire run will be 80". 80/2=40 40/12= 3.33' My amplifier is fused for 90 amps so I know it shouldn't be putting out much more than that, but to be on the safe side lets wire for 100 amps. 100 is equal to 1200 watts. So we need to find 100amps and 3.33 feet on the chart. Found it and I need 8 AWG wire for that long of a run. SnowDrifter Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 Assuming you are wired to 1 ohm, 12ga ofc should be perfect. Thicker wouldn't hurt, but I definitely wouldn't go any thinner ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
