What Is My RMS? (RF Amps w/ Pics Inside ...)

Am trying to understand RMS ...

Have a T400-2 & T500-1bdCP ... So am I simply "running" a 900 watt RMS system?

OR ... do these matter ...

Since I am running a 4-ohm load, actual power is 294 watts to my components.

... & here I am running at a 1-ohm load, w/ actual power being 821 watts.

So ... 900 or a tad over 1,100?

An amp can be rated at 1,000 watts but do more power. If you're trying to factor current draw you would go for what the amp can actually do. You'd say you're running a little over 1,100 watts rms

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

Fair enough then. Thanks. Wasn't looking to brag about the numbers, just looking to understand the few groups of them that there are.

Here's something else to ponder...........

Look at the power vs frequency chart for the T500.

Notice it makes its peak power to 200Hz which isn't quite subwoofer territory.

At a more popular 40Hz, its less then 750W....not that you could really tell the difference between 750 and 820W.

Most people would assume that the amp makes its rated power evenly across the frequency band.

It'd be interesting to see more power vs frequency charts on amp ratings.

BTW, poor Marion Sands tested your T500 on Christmas....... :(

Cracking the whip at Fosgate, I see.

Thanks, Wicks, for that additional info ...

... & great catch w/ the date & Mr. Sands! I have stared at that sheet so many times, & it never hit me! lol

Be good, kind Sir.
