Flex A Prene?

i found 40' of flex A Prene 1/0 welding cable seller said the strand count is 988. Is that good

Post a picture of it if you can. I bet it is a lot smaller than you think. it is most likely measured by the jacket OD.

yeah that stuff runs smaller, even the 2/0 is not as big as 1/0 car audio wire.

No, it does not run smaller.

It follows the American wire Gauge standard, hence why people say 1/0awg wire.

Tho you are correct that the 2/0 welding cable is a tad smaller then oversized 1/0, but thats just it, its oversized 1/0.

The bad thing with welding cable is in some climates the casing on the wire does not hold up well when used outside the vehicle or in the engine bay, and oil, salt, water, zero degree weather can take a toll on that casing.

But over all good wire.

That wire is measured by the jacket and not the wire itself. I have a roll of the junk.

I'd run it. I prefer audiotechnix, or sky high wire. But thats not a bad deal. I'd probably cover the wire some how though, split loom tubing or tech flex. Split loom is better for heat but you can find high heat techflex. Its noy undersized wire, its AWG correct 1/0. Just most car audio 1/0, is 2/0 like Audiofanaticz said

I have one 5 foot run of the stuff for a ground, other than not being as flexible its really not to bad. It was easier to terminate because the jacket held up better to heat then the AT wire. I will probably run more welding wire in the future.
