Just get some angle steel and weld it to the frame and mock up the mounting feet of the tanks and compressors onto a couple pieces of flat steel and weld them to the angle steel and then you have a solid mounting structure which you can cover with some thinner sheet metal to protect from the environments and road grime and salt.

if you run dumps under the cab for exhaust sure, but then you get to deal with te drone from exhaust. theres room BEHIND the axel under the bed.

mind you it all depends on how low he want to go as well....

just kidding, me and my dad have talked about doing an inframe tank for awhile after going to car shows and seeing those big ugly tanks. Didn't know it was actually done though... I would think that it would tank a GREAT welder and a good finish job on coating to keep it daily driver worthy.

It's done quite often in the adjustable show scene with pressure in them, just usually easier to mount aftermarket tanks somewhere and you get a "guarantee" pressure rating. Below is a pic of my friends air tank in process of being built for his T-bucket.
