Kranny
does that little pyle amp output decent power? like, more than enough for those coax's?
bumpinTL364
Well, there it is: some nice internals and speakers, shitty build quality, a box that's been through more than enough, and a box of fruity pebbles... Here's my question for today: I was looking at the RF woofer and it even gives specs for a ported box (0.65cuft, 6in port, 2in diameter) which according to a random online port and tuning calculator I found way back in the day means it will be tuned to 42hz. I'm thinking 42hz is way higher than I would want to tune for this setup; obviously I'd like to go as low as possible (32hz if I can) but 35hz is probably a little more realistic. Do those RF specs seem legit? How low can I tune without hurting this (or any of these) woofers? Thanks for looking! masterbation is free, and even saves you money.sorry but someone had to say itsorry, Jimmy...beat you to it (no pun intended) LOLDON'T get a wife. bumpinTL364
Looked closer at each company's page for these respective woofers, and I'm now leaning towards either the Sundown E8 or the RF Punch 8.Both already have suggested enclosures which are tuned fairly low. The SA8 has a nice low resonant frequency, and although the RF's resonant frequency is 40hz, the fact that RF says the box should be tuned to 35hz says something about this woofer. Infinity's page is sick, there are charts of spl and xmax response in sealed, ported, and 4th order enclosures, but none seem to hit a hard below 50hz as I would like...also the ported and 4th order boxes are tuned fairly high (40hz ported and 55hz for the ported part of the 4th order). As for the JBL, it also has a low resonant frequency, but it just looks weird with the basket like it is. Up next, designing t-lines and ported boxes for all. Can anyone suggest a good calc I can use on my mac, or teach me how the hell to use this vbox software and get windows? 1two3
I'm curious to see what ur gonna do with this, I'm also gonna be installing a system in my room and for sure leaning towards a t-line. There's a stickied thread in subwoofers/enclosures topic that is a tutorial on how to design a t-line. Take a look at that not sure if its gonna help. Update us with what driver/s, amp, receiver u get. bumpinTL364
Already all in my build log bro. Built a t-line for my 12" DCON and that thing RIPPED! Look at my first post, it has everything I'm running right now (two amps, coaxials, and a woofer) and what I'm thinking about doing. Hit me up with any ideas you have, I could do a sketchup for a box if you want a t-line. I used that tutorial to build mine and it worked great. masterbation is free, and even saves you money.sorry but someone had to say itsorry, Jimmy...beat you to it (no pun intended) LOLDON'T get a wife. Pioneerchuck
Dont mean to thread jack or anything but I saw dorm room systems and just had to let you know what I used in my dorm on base...Lol I had 2 towers sectioned off for mids + highs and then the sub. I was running 1 Pioneer Pro 6.5, 1 Pioneer pro tweeter, and a Sundown E 15 in each tower tuned to 35Hz. Had a 12V battery bank (2 autozone platinums or something like that) each battery had its own 50a charger i bought at a garage sale. And then the subs were run off an old school pioneer mono block getting ~200 rms a piece. My whole dorm hated me....Lol
bumpinTL364
holy mother of christ, that must have been loud. I remember looking into running a transformer and just running 12v gear so I could pretty much just transplant it into a car, but decided the 120v route would be much easier...got pics though? masterbation is free, and even saves you money.sorry but someone had to say itsorry, Jimmy...beat you to it (no pun intended) LOLDON'T get a wife. Facekicker
Sweet, I've done it too using RE Audio subs. Ran a Dayton Audio plate amp the first time, now I run a Behringer rack amp. I got a few vids on YouTube if you want to see. Those plate amps have gotten cheap on pts express too. 2002 Monte Carlo Started a build log Fi, DC, Mechman, XS Power
