Trayten Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 Ok guys, I'm almost sure none of you know me, you can go find my post in the Introduce Yourself forum, it will be one of the most recent ones. Anyway, I'm a car audio noob and I'm wondering, would it be a good idea to put a DC XL 15 on a Hifonics ZRX3200.1d. Any input on that decision? Would that be a good choice? Would it push the sub fine? Would I need any extra electrical in my car if running those two? Anything you guys know that is good information for a beginner, I'll take it, so just post away and I'll learn it somehow! Thank you! By the way, if that amp is not a good choice, I'm open to suggestions, but I'm definitely not going to break my bank on an amp. I figured that the ZRX was a good choice because of it's price and it seems like it would push the sub fine. Again, thanks for any help! -Trayten Vehicle: 1988 Cadillac Brougham Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS Head Unit Custom box built by me (designed by forum member g2shuck) (1) DC XL 15 (2) SQ q1-1200d (2) Crescendo PWX-6's. Guest Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 for 3k you should look into a high output alt of some sort. from mechman/dc power. edit: if i may recommend, look into soundqubed (audioque) amps, or crescendo, or dc audio amps. the quality is in the price.
Soccerballzs Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 XS Power for sure D3100. Mechman alternator also. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/garage/vehicle/2438-jeep-commander/I Pioneer P99RSAmpere 38002-Ampere 125/44-6.5 inch Hertz HSK XL Mids4-8 inch JL Audio ZR Midwoofer 2-5.25 Satori Mids2-Morel Tweeters, 2 Hertz Milles 3 inch on A pillars2-Hertz Silk tweeters DC Audio Level 5/12 Skyhigh Wire Mechman 320 XS Power D3100MO Funniest Thread of the Year 2013: http://www.stevemead...dy-being-a-pos/
nocturnalrites101 Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 id tend to look for a better amp even if its used. what size alt does your caddy have? you may want to upgrade that was well with a bigger battery

Hmm, yeah I see where the quality is in those amps, just idk if I would be able to afford those at all.. Definitely a good suggestion I just don't know if it's realistic for me, ya know? Kinda sucks, I'd love to go big with everything, but I have another car to put money into aswell, and college (possibly) in upcoming years. Thank you for the tips though, I may just go with that amp if I get more ok's on it and also get an alternator as well! id tend to look for a better amp even if its used. what size alt does your caddy have? you may want to upgrade that was well with a bigger battery I'm not sure what size my alternator is at the moment, I suppose I could look or just find out online somewhere. An extra battery is definitely in the picture. I just wanna do everything right the first time and have something to bump with throughout high school, or maybe even just for a few months etc till I get some more money. Thanks! Trayten Posted October 2, 2013 Author Report Posted October 2, 2013 did some research on the web and found a site that says my alt is an 85 amp, that's what we're looking for in alternators, right? rockFord_Expedition Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 Yes, you want the amperage output rating of the alternator. 85A is not sufficient to run a powerful amp. Definitely upgrade that. An additional battery, probably wouldn't hurt, but would be help much until you upgrade your alternator. My choices for the 2 based on my own research is XS Power batteries and DC Alternators. Those aren't the only good ones though, but IMO they are the best in their field, Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire
