same box, not as loud?

As mentioned... changed your cabin volume and effectively changed your peak and your contructive/destructive interference. Lower usually sounds louder to the ear-o-meter, but I bet the 'B' pillar placement is louder on the TL.

But if it's for daily, by all means move it back. But it sure would be nice to see some accompanying numbers with it at the 'B' pillar so you know for sure that it's not just psychoacoustical. You may have just been *expecting* it to be much louder at the 'B' pillar and it didn't meet that expectation so you *think* it's not as loud.

Food for thought.

Pretty much what CleanSierra said:

It takes less of a distance for the wavelength for the higher frequencies to develop compared to the lower notes.

Other things to take into the consideration is the now smaller cabin size which can sometimes help or hurt you, as well as the vehicles resonate frequency probably jumped a easy 10-15hz higher then it was before.

You can try raising your tuning which will bring back some of your spl if you get it close enough to the resonate frequency of the vehicle, but for that matter a simple 5-7hz higher tuning might be a drastic increase even if your still a bit away from the resonate frequency. Your other option would be moving your wall back to previous location, and then sealing it off again. You don't have to be at the B Pillar to seal it off, just a bit more work. ;)

You had more room in front of the box the way it was before for the sound wave to develop and travel. You shortened that distance and effectively lessened the distance the wave can travel. I would move the box back to where you had it before.
