SnowDrifter Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 6ths aren't the awful nightmare people think. First and only 6th I ever did was for a pair of audiopipe 12s. Had a solid range from the high teens up to the mid 50s. Not terribly peaky either. Nice and musica. Series tuned 6th Rear chamber approx to the woofer's spec. Tuned low, as little port area as you can get away with. Front chamber between 1 and 1.5 times the size of the rear chamber. Tuned higher, with a fair bit of port area. The one that I did had a pair of 4" aero ports for the rear and an 8x8 square port for the front. They are fun to play with. You shouldn't blow a sub in any design ever if you know your equipment. Watch/listen/smell. Catch any issued before they break something ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

Watch/listen/smell. Catch any issued before they break something that's what I was getting at... people seem to be discouraging. theu assume the worst in everything. so just because someone says don't.... doesn't mean you shouldn't. I built mine... and ill say I made my mistakes with it... but two things played well to my favor. my subs were disposable. if I blew them it wouldn't hurt my feelings a whole lot. and I had the time... to be honest I played this box by ear I got an idea and just went for it... it went wrong so I refigured and went back too it... I learned a lot and made 300 bucks for it... well I will be making 300 for it... I'd like to see an sq sixth. mine isn't horrible with sound quality but the definition of an open cone also isn't there... that said I'll probably stick with my band pass enclosures because I love them now... I'm getting two new subs tomorrow to build another 6th for. which will be sooner or later go eighth. it's not hard to do just try and see what you like for it... tunning to close will give you a giant peak... too far and your output will be lumpy. cf has a lot to do with response too... keep your subs loaded and everything should be ok. build and have fun. geek out a little bit. and enjoy the process. Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! 420c Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 you could always pay the 50 bux and get a pwk designs, prob take some of the guess work out of it.

95neon_thumper82 Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 idk I'm a guy that believes things that are worth having are worth working for... the guessing and experimentation though it makes me crazy give me a look at the nature of the beast. and that's what I'm here for haha... but others who don't have the time and patience could do that... and have a sixth order cor sure but I'm more about the pride of building and figuring out for myself Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! Are pwk designs worth the $50 he charges? I need to design a 6th order box for my new build, but have no idea how and don't want to waste money on wood.
