95neon_thumper82 Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 and also depends on which side you want to keep your sub loaded... one side should be at least similar to manufacture r suggested cubic footage... I like to now with experience low off the high side do to being able to keep the low side bigger for shorter port that won't be too harsh as far mechanicals on the subs. that's just me though... Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! 95neon_thumper82 Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 95 what would recommend for a btl triple stack 18 in a series tuned. sorry for the thread jack op by series... you mean quasi I assume. .. something like this with one port or set of ports projecting all voice? personally. .. and because it is a huge sub with a pretty low fs I'm sure... I'm going start with tunings and move on to everything else.... I'd go with a low side tuning of maybe 20 because to not use the low extension on that bad boy seems to be some what of a waste... with a high side tuning of some where between 45 and 55 that should give you about the widest range... for cubic footage I'd go with one side at 3 ish cube... due to the fact that 18s as my awareness goes like a bigger box... and that's probably pretty close to manufacturer recommendation... I'd recommend that for the highside because again easier to tune the smaller side higher... for the low side... you might go a little bigger. . I'm not near my computer right now but keeping the low side slightly bigger at like 1.25 to 1.5 of the high side seems to give the the flattest response curve. so 3.75-4.5 cf.. these are all before port displacement... I'll look better when I get home... Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! RooTxBeeR Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 tuning a 6th is easier than tuning a 4th..... no guessworkhow so? You tune a 4th order box to the peak frequency of the sealed box. End of tuning, 6th order is not that simple. bbeljefe Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Sixth orders are not easier to tune than 4ths. They can be extremely peaky with bad dips between upper and lower tuning frequencies, which is why people say they are hard to tune. 95neon_thumper82 Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 lol bbel. I agree... whoever told him that... needs schooling. its a huge matter of keep the cubic footage in line with one another and finding the frequency range that best suits what you like. if you have one side WAY BIGGER than the other you'll peak closer to the bigger cf side... if you keep the cf relatively closer the tuning will smooth out. it may still be a little lumpy like a camels back but the median will be flatter... Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! jarrius Posted October 21, 2013 Author Report Posted October 21, 2013 I want it to be the best of both worlds sound good because it's my daily driver but also get loud is hell. I was figuring about 1.5^ft for high side tuned to about 45z and 2.5 or so for low side tuned around 33hz if that's to low I will be able to change it because I'm going to use aero ports I just need to re get my max dimenrions of my trunk to make sure I will be able to fit it all in there. 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
95neon_thumper82 Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 if I can fit 4.04 of box in my trunk and that's internal.... that box should be able to fit like a champ in yours unless you have like no trunk at all hahah Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option!
