kmb504 Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 Hello my fellow bassheads. Im planning on buying a new family vehicle, so im gonna need a little bump. I was thinking 2 sundown sa-8s I just wanted to get some feed back on people who have them or had, amp recommendations, and ideas on box specs.
pioneerforlife Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 The sa-8's are good subs. I have heard a pair and they got loud and low for 8's. If you decide to go with the sundown 8's then I would go with a sundown amp too. you cant go wrong with their amps. 2007 Ford Focus SES Hatchback Pioneer HU 4 Digital Designs 9515i's in a B pillar. 2 Soundstream XXX 15K's (running at 16 volts) Soundstream Mids/Highs in custom door panels (getting rebuilt soon) Soundstream TA2.160 and TA2.400 Sky High and KNU wiring 3 Banks of Maxwell caps Winston Lithium (not a fan) Bump4Life 250 Amp Alt. aka USAlternators Soundstream Focus and Avenger Build Log Instagram @p4linnovation YouTube: Team Blowin Loud
jarrius Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 Amp I personally would use a soundqubed amp there cheaper then the sundowns and sound great and produce great power. And most of them do over rated also Edit: now that's not me saying sundown amps are bad because there not by any means 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole
kmb504 Posted October 21, 2013 Author Report Posted October 21, 2013 Are their amps exspensive? Im getting both the 8s for a fairly decent price. Im not trying to drop too much intothe system.
Joe X Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 You generally want to go with small subs when you don't have or don't want to give up space, the subs are outstanding for their size but a couple of sa-12s on the same power will be much louder for the watt in their optimal airspace and cost would be similar.
Brandonbkd Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 A Soundqubed amp would definitely be cheaper and they are still awesome amps. kmb504 Posted October 21, 2013 Author Report Posted October 21, 2013 Space is my main concern. Its gonna be a family vehicle first, the sound is just extra. Ill probably leave the stock radio in and just throw an iloc in there. I know sundown makes amazing subs, my buddy has 4 of the new 15"s in his charger, it think they are like the v.4 Those things beat.

kmb504 Posted October 21, 2013 Author Report Posted October 21, 2013 Would you recommend the ql-750 or 1200d? Also, how much airspace for each sub?
Brandonbkd Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 definitely at least the 1200 FI BL18 Build Log: CLICK HERE!! 2003 Explorer Sport: FI BL18 SoundQubed 2200 at 0.7ohm Pioneer DEH-2500UI Pioneer 6 x 8s Rockford Fosgate 6 x 9s 5 ft^3 box at 35hz Lots of Mega Mat
