My box designs and questions for 2 sa-8s in a reg cab Ranger

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I am attempting to stuff two sa8s in my regular cab 2000 ranger. I am no stranger to box building, but I am a complete newb on this one. Ok so here is the breakdown. I don't want to loose much, if any leg room, I have to factor in the excursion vs the back of my seat, I'm thinking both subs on drivers side, port on passenger? If anyone can help me design a box to make these 8s shine, please chime in. So far I can barely squeeze 1.85 gross, but no where to fire the port, and subs are right against my seat.. Keep in mind, these dimensions are MAX, the box is snug against the side walls, so cant fire the port out the side. My only option would be out the 4" top or a angled port out the face. At these dimensions I would have to recess the subs in the box some to account for excursion. Any help is appreciated

Amp: Crossfire vr1000d

Subs: 2 Sundown Sa-8 dual 4 ohm

Sub Displacement: .8 per sub, .16 total

Building Material: 3/4" MDF

Vehicle: 2000 Ford Ranger Std Cab

Music Preference: sq, daily bass only. rap, country, and rock (mostly rap)

Tune: Sundown calls for the 35hrz range

You could always do an external aero port so you will have a bit more wiggle room.

A regular wedge box behind the seat, fire an aero or PVC port at the B-pillar. You can do a couple of 3" ports and it will sound great. I've had the best luck in my regular cab(Sierra) with B-pillar firing.

This is the only picture I have where it shows what's going on. I realize this doesn't apply to your truck, but it's how I'd suggest making it happen. Subs behind driver seat is where I'd put them in your build:

Alright so I tried a few designs for my regular cab ranger. Its very difficult because of the lack of room behind the seats, and my unwillingness to loose leg room.

here is my first design. exactly 1 cube net ported at 34 hrz.. It got very low, shook the whole truck. Main problem, subs got pushed in when I sat in my seat
