razuuk004
Locate where the positive sits just right on the door. The curve will let you know how it sits. once you found it's proper location, trace the shape to the door which is covered in painters tape to trace the shape and to protect all the work you did under it. Carefully cut out the shape, Tip come close to the line but not up to it and use the proper tools to sand down up to the line while test fitting with the piece every few minutes until it fits tight up in its place. Take your time here. This step is very important. Now you cant carefully cut out the center hole to place the tweeter pod. Test fit on the door to get your proper angle on the pod mark it if you have to. razuuk004
now that you know the proper angle, Its time to cut out the rest of the shape that will fill the angle up. first i came up with this shape. but i quickly saw that it needed more Umpf to it so i did more of a teardrop shape that curves with the piece. Will show picture later. to fill in that area, use a very streatchy t-shirt material. Dont use fleece for this area, it will be hard to handle on such a small area and it doesnt need all that strength to keep it together. Just T-shirt or grill cloth material, very thin and stretchy. GLue it to the back side of the pod. cut out the back and excess material . place the pod in its place. glue it in the two spots that it holds the piece. stretch the material to the edges both on front and back. Glue them to the edges and cut out the excess material. harden the t shirt material by applying super glue all over the t-shirt material and activator to harden it. test fit on door. NOW ALL THAT IS LEFT IS TO BODY WORK IT AND THE DOOR FOR THAT PERFECT FIT AND LOOK. HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS WEEKENDS UPDATE. 79 cutty
flows nicely with the panel. Looks good man. Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! You can't rush quality, it doesn't happen overnight. Quality takes time and dedication, but the end results more than pay for it.
