razuuk004 Posted March 13, 2014 Author Report Posted March 13, 2014 I SPRAY THE PANEL WITH 3 EVEN COATS OF PRIMER WAITING THE PROPER AMOUNT OF FLASH TIME IN BETWEEN EACH COAT (10 TO 15 MINUTES). IF YOU DON'T WAIT AND GO CRAZY WITH THE SPRAYING, THE PRIMER WILL WRINKLE AND THEN YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT ALL OFF AND START AGAIN. ALSO USE A SPRAY GUN WITH THE 1.7MM OR BIGGER TIP FOR PRIMER. AND I ALSO SPRAYED SOME BULL DOG ADHESIVE PROMOTER (THIS TIME I USED THE SPRAY CAN FOR SMALL PIECES) AND WAITED THE PROPER TIME TO APPLY THE PRIMER ALSO PRIMER WILL LET YOU KNOW IF YOU DID A GOOD JOB IN THE SHAPING AND FAB WORK. IF YOU LEFT ANY UNEVENNESS OR LUMPY SURFACE, YOU WILL SEE IT WHEN YOU PRIMER. USE YOUR HANDS AND TAKE YOUR TIME IN SHAPING AND SANDING AND YOU WILL GET A PERFECT SURFACE FINISH. AND NOW I WILL LET IT CURE A WHOLE DAY BEFORE I WET SAND THE PANEL. HOPE YOU ALL ENJOYED THIS PORTION OF THE BUILD. Always seems so much cleaner, and a good feeling to finally spray it one color and see how good things actually look! Looking good man. Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! You can't rush quality, it doesn't happen overnight. Quality takes time and dedication, but the end results more than pay for it. YEAH YOU'RE RIGHT ABOUT FINALLY SEEING THE PANEL IN ONE SOLID COLOR INSTEAD OF IMAGINING HOW IT WILL LOOK AND FEELING GOOD THAT YOUR WORK IS ACTUALLY LOOKING STRAIGHT. 79 cutty Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 Same problem I have run into body working my frame to perfection. A lot of times sanding layer after layer of filler seems like you aren't getting anywhere and it isn't very glamorous work to take pics of or show. Only after getting it into one color and seeing how damn near perfect it is, and how little sanding needs to be done in the high build does it really set in that was worth the extra time and effort. But it is DEFINITELY difficult to motivate sometimes when it is just slinging and sanding layer after layer of filler. Firm believer in letting my cars do my talking! You can't rush quality, it doesn't happen overnight. Quality takes time and dedication, but the end results more than pay for it.
