What tone does every body use? Setting amp gain

Recommended Posts

I use 50hz -3db ...what's the real difference with the 0db and the -3db...the -3db tone is MUCH louder than the 0db..so if I used the 0db to set my gain, shouldn't it be higher than if it was set with the -3db?

50hz tone on class d amps , and 1000hz tone on a/b amps

using a dmm and the equation sqroot of (impedance X Power desired)

all 0db tones, i read -3db can damage equipment if not used properely, i dont know a lot about it but i stay clear of that until i know how to use it for sure

i set mine by ear too when theres not multiple bass amps.....

when dealing with MBA (see above) i use a dmm and 50-60hz depending on how i feel.  I dont have to do that w/the new RF amps though.  Set one gain and they all follow the leader (master/slave)  it fuckin RULES im tellin you.

say when you do use the tones to set the gain... do you use a -3db or 0db and why?    oh and also can you explain me the master/slave stuff? I got a t4004 on the way :D.. so all the t4004 amps(general example) that are attached to the intial t4004 will follow the same gain setting if I set this one to master and the others to slave?
