was thinking bout doing two bracing rods but i opted for one

IMG_20140203_190616.jpg

cut the holes, very close to the port. this caused some issues

20140204_152858.jpg

its so close the router cut through the port wall so i had to do a lot of sanding to make sure there wouldn't be any contact with the sub and wall

finally screwed the floor to the riser. its much more secure and stable now

20140204_172213.jpg

applied some bondo

and it fits!

now i have it in with the subs and wired up… first impression… in terms of sound quality it sounds much better, it hits the lows much cleaner without sounding like its unloading and its not as muddy. however in terms of loudness its still not there… i actually have to turn the volume up more now than with the last box to get it really cranked up and hitting the notes. Im guessing once i get it tuned properly and fully 100% sealed off with foam it will be louder because i probably have some cancellation going on.

So i took a little video… it hits the lows well like i said but its weird how it isn't loud but it still can be felt. When i had my two type r 12s in my truck they were relatively loud and they made the inside of my ears itch. That box was tuned kinda high, but this isn't quite the same. Its not as loud per say but it still can be felt like it moves a little bit of air as well. Maybe I'm just not use to low tuned boxes...

Just out of curiosity, if you're worried about the sub being so close to the wall, why not just cut a new one? Or add a baffle and move it over. I can't see the video here at work, but the rest of it looks good.

Its not a problem now, i just had to sand a lot to be safe.

Can't tell how loud it is from the video. I'm pretty curious how mine is gonna sound. Not gonna lie, I'm kinda nervous, haha

yeah videos can be bit deceiving because all cameras pick up is distortion of bass so its no way to gauge it. for 8s it hits the lows very well.

i think I'm gonna spray foam to seal the trunk today… I'm kinda nervous :ehh:

If it isnt sealed 100% it will be quieter. I forget the difference exactly but in my car it was in the nieghborhood of 2db which is alot.

Try pushing the box all the way if you can. Still facing the smame way and everything. Just slide it straight back as far as possible and see what you think?

Im not sure how you have your trunk layed out if sliding it back is an option, itd be and easy quick test.

Dang. Your gonna foam it. I would try to lay down some painters plastic or tapr off the entire area or something.

So the foam seals against the car without ruining the interior and could be taken back to stock easilly.

Something like that. Foaming a beautiful car is kinda wo crazy crazy imo lol.

I agree don't get foam all over. Idk I keep thinking if you want it louder and deeper bass why not go with a single 12" mine slams hard on the 1400 .1

For some reason I can't see it getting super loud on two 8" . I may be wrong. Hope sealing it off get you what your looking for.

haha well i already laid out the painters tape months ago planning on foaming just the edges around the structure. i don't think it would be that much foam and all the areas it would contact are covered with tape already.

And i honestly think i got my hopes up a little too much with the 8s i mean granted they are loud for 8s, but cone area is king. i might eventually go with 10s or 12s
