truthsayer
Now days just about every one makes a good laptop. A few years back i worked for LSI Technologies and we assembled computers for 4 different brands. I was shocked to learn they where all almost identical except for the processors and storage. So really you want to look for something with quad processors and as much storage as possible. Now saying all that i have been extremely happy with my hp i purchased 2 1/2 years ago. Still running perfect and as fast as you could ask for. truthsayer

Souldrop
Really unless you're just going to get into some heavy processing applications it sounds like just about any laptop made in the past decade will work for you lol. Unless you just have money to burn I would think mainly about what size laptop (screen size) you want and go for it. If you want to get more RAM, HD space, better processor, and possibly a dedicated video card go for it. It will possibly up the price although it sounds like you may never fully use the hardware to its fullest extent. As far as brands I personally have used both toshiba and gateway. They both work as they should; I have no complaints. edit* You may also want to look at tablets. I have no experience with them, but sounds like they will also do everything you want them to do. 1997 Lexus ES300 HU - Pioneer MVH 7350 Processor - Helix DSP Front Stage - JBL P660C Mid/high amp - Alpine PDX-F4 Subs - 1 IA Death Penalty 12 Sub Amp - Cactus Sounds PF300.

RooTxBeeR
Go look at hp. You can pick a series, then customize it. And you can Google coupon codes. The one I have cost 1500,but paid 1k because of a coupon. Still have it and runs great On 11/20/2012 at 8:54 PM, AMI CUSTOMS said: Turned mine up today at a light, guy next to me his steering wheel started moving and he looked over at me like I was a magician lol. What's your budget? Great computers, just got a tablet from them with a dead pixel though (Luckily it only shows up on certain blacks/red and its like at the bottom where I don't look) If this guy doesn't do gaming or anything hardcore everyone else is about right, pretty much any computer made recently will fit what he needs.
