Weight saving alternative to multiple batteries

I know that everyone here loves to add more batteries as a standard answer to voltage concerns. I do this as well but recently I have been looking into alternatives due to size and weight of the batteries. With the advancement in electric vehicles and hybrids the battery market has changed significantly in the past 10 years. That being said could you replace some of your batteries with the quick discharge/recharge large scale capacitors similar to the ones that they use in hybrids?

for example:

This 500 farad, 16v unit weighs in at 12lbs and looks like it could be stacked multiple units high if you wanted.

This is just food for thought, may not be a good option yet but the way things are going there will be a viable option for audio applications very soon.

There's a couple capacitor threads floating around nowadays, they make a good read.

Your still looking at 50lbs for a battery, granted it is better than 75lbs for the standard XS but I still think that something like this may work better and come in at a fraction of the weight.

I'm in no way supporting the junk capacitors that most audio shops sell, they are still not worth the money but some of the new technology supercapacitors may work out.

I run those exact modules in the CRX. (5) of them. Running an 8k daily :)

How do you like them and where did you get them from? If you could have gotten another model would you and how do they hold up in a vehicle?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm seriously considering a setup like this to supplement my two XS D3100's in my body dropped F-150. Lots of audio and when the compressors kick on they draw 80 amps by themselves. The two XS batteries and the HO alt do ok but I would like some options to choose from. I used to have 4 kinetik batteries behind the rear axle under the bed floor but I have since done away with that setup. I wonder if these could be mouned under the bed, exposed to the elements.

The modules like that are about double the price of individual cells, but you don't have to series them into banks and you don't have the exposed buss bars between them. They're just... cleaner and easier. Worth the price difference to me. Might not be to you. I still have a bunch of the single cell banks though. Same shit, just no fancy case.

I got them from a buddy who most likely got them from eBay (like everybody else) when they were plentiful. The 2.5v/2600F black ones are cheaper and they still have PLENTY of juice. You really only need the blue ones if you charge higher than 15v.

Caps are straight up awesome. I highly recommend them for burps or daily. They REALLY shine on burps, but they can certainly supplement everyday electrical. And in your case, they'd be perfect because of the instantaneous amperage they provide. They wouldn't skip a beat with an 80A draw. There's a few write ups out there and more than few threads with more info than I'm willing to type at the moment.

I don't think I'd want them on the exterior of the vehicle.
