LSN2meBoom916
I have a Q for ya RAY: I have a Alpine deck from around 2002 I have a PG Tantrum 600.4 runnin MB Quart 5 1/4's up front and the 6 1/2" 2 way rears. Here's the problem: It has been fine forever since about '02 when I built it all, and just recently the passenger side mid& tweet (both filtered by one musicomp xover) will cut in and out. Sometimes when it cuts out the volume will be med-low maybe 18-20 out of 35 and if i turn it up the passenger mid will kick back in, but not always. I swapped out the xover No change. Swapped out the midwoofer, still no change. I had a similar prob w/ my 1st alpine deck and couldnt tell what the deal was but then I got a newer alpine deck and it seemed to go away for a couple yrs. I have not tried a new amp on it but I could cuz I have a 2nd 600.4. My bro said it could be the tweet (only speaker in the equation i didnt swap out) could be causing an impedence conflict or somehow the voice coil could be "out of the electromagnetic gap" (I guess it could but i dont think it would cause this) and then turning it up provides enough voltage to "jump" the gap and it comes back on? I dont think thats it but he said maybe so i'm throwin it out there. My guess is i just need to swap out the deck like it's a deck issue. I hope thats it cuz i already have a new deck for my car and once I get my ipod cable it will be swapped. So i guess my Q is have you heard/any exp w/ a deck output doing this? Or is it more likely the amp or somehow the speaker(s)? Thnx in advance.
