My small build , "New Focal component set" Pg 89

Recommended Posts

Well shit I guess it's not over lol. Just bought a HDC 3 12 dual 1ohm sub tonight. I will swap it out for the dual 2ohm sub for now and run the 1400 @.5 ohms. Then I will either sell the dual 2 ohm sub and get another dual 1 or just get a recone kit and do it myself. I will be saving in the mean time for either a ct 2200 or 2500. Depends on what the prices are going to be when I am ready to buy and run 2 12s @1ohm.

Got my new HDC 3 12 dual 1ohm sub. Today it's all wired up and installed. Time to break it in then see what kind of power the CT Sounds 1400 can give it.

Oh shit what have I done now. So I have been looking at amp options to run my two hdc 3 12s. I was thinking about strapping two 1400s, getting the New ct sounds 2200 or getting the CT 2500 . Well after looking online they have the 2500 for sale on Amazon and eBay. I contacted ct sounds and when the limited few are sold from there then that's it. They are being discontinued. Price is 776 on Amazon. So I contacted a dealer and asked about another 1400. The new price starting in Feb is 429. The 2500 will be discontinued and the 2200 will be 869 and they are coming out with a 3000 which will be the same power as the 2500 but will be 999 and have dual power inputs. So I told my wife about it and she gave the ok to purchase the 2500. Amazon is offering 12 months interest free on orders over 599 on the Amazon store card. Well I applied got accepted and placed my order. So now I have a ct 2500 coming to run two HDC subs. I will be running them @ 1 ohm. Damn things are going to start getting loud. Lol

In anticipation of my new amp coming I decided to upgrade some wiring. I had 4 gauge power wire for my 1400 and bought 20' of NVX 1/0 wire , skyhigh copper terminals and heat shrink. I was planning on just doing the power but decided to redo my big three. I replace the cadence 1/0 crap wire with crap ring terminals with the NVX and copper lugs. I did the hole fill the lug with solder and shove the wire in. Worked great and was nice and clean. So I now have 1/0 power and ground for the 1400, nice 1/0 gauge for the big 4 as I added another ground and I added a 1/0 ground wire to my 125.4 but left the 4 gauge power wire for that amp. I think that can carry plenty of power to that amp. Couple pics of the crap wire and ring terminals that were replaced.

So today on my way to work slamming the system at .5 ohms I have to say it hits awesome. I think the biggest difference is from the wire upgrade. Now at volume 45 which is my normal loud listening level my voltage drop at the amp is from 13.7 were my truck charges at to only maybe 13.5. The biggest drop is at full volume which for my system is 53 I saw 13.2. I am very happy with the results. For the reader that thinks cheap wire is good wire I would have to disagree. Also all the brass lugs made a difference. I wonder what's going to happen when I install the 2500 and another sub. Can't wait to find out. Worse case I install another battery.

Let me know when the 1400.1 is forsale, when you get the 2500 in. I got a friend that I'm putting a pair of SA-12's in her titan, was looking at that amp.

I think the 125 .4 would be a better choice but I noticed that on Amazon the price has gone up already. I paid 239 for mine and now they are listed for 379

After emailing Kurt at CT and a dealer all the prices are going up and that is why I bought the 2500 now because when it's discontinued and it becomes the CT3000 it will be 999.
