Hi, im currently in the process of designing a new enclosure for my buddys 93 4door explorer. Amp being used will be 2k brutus, woofers are going to be 4 mofo 2ohm dvc. Im looking around 8 cubes.. that should be after port displacement correct? and wanting to tune around 40hz. should I do subs/port back? or subs up port back? lmk please!

edit: would 60-70sq inch of port be enough?

Vb is always after you consider driver, port and bracing displacement. Always. Every time. No exceptions.

And subs up port back seems to be a pretty popular configuration for SUVs with that many subs.

For two 15s I believe you are doing and that high tuning no less than 100 square inches of port area

15s or 12s?

i would assume that 60-70 sq in of port is too little honestly.

and i would do subs up, ports back. thats how my girlfriends is done with 2 12s and it does 150 with 2kw and 152 on 5kw

so if my woofers call for roughly 2 cubes of air each, if i had a sealed box that was exactly 2 cubes and tried to add 20sq inches of port.. i would have to have 20sq inches of box volume back right? because at that point i would have subtracted 20sq inches of volume from the enclosure.. is that correct

i understand that, but does that mean i would have to increase the total volume to make up for that

Not to be rude but, if you understand that then you know the answer.

In simple terms, if you need 2 cubic feet net, that means after all other displacements. If you throw a one cubic foot block in the box wit the subs, then you no longer have two cubes net... you have one cube net.

In simpler terms, if you have a twenty dollar bill and you buy a ten dollar shot with it, you know longer have twenty dollars. And you can't get back to twenty dollars without earning that spent ten back.

There are 3 ways to go about it, one and best build a new box, use a fully external port, which may look ugly and lastly is use a passive radiator, which is a pain.
