Afficionado Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 I recently bought some sundown x's and am going to be doing a sealed trunk box. Everyone has been telling me something different, and i'm just trying to figure out what will be optimal for me. I will have 2x Sundown x-12's in a box, and i was told to go with 4.5-5 cubes net. My question is, what is the optimal port area per foot for the x series? People have been telling me they like really low Port area per foot #'s, but for most other subs, higher #'s are desired. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if i made any of this confusing, let me know and i'll try to clarify.Other Info:I'll be running these subs on a Rockford T2500 @ 1 ohm, so about 3500 watts RMS.I'm also most likely going to be using an aero, psychoport. CleanSierra Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 They definitely need a larger than average port to operate properly. I'm not sure where you hard that they like small port area from. I won't argue the pretty area per foot thing I'm this thread. Jow many aeros and what size diameter port are you planning on? I was told an 8" port, but then it seemed port area per foot was too low, so now looking at a 9" aero which will put me at 12.5" port area per foot. CleanSierra Posted December 23, 2013 Report Posted December 23, 2013 What about 2 6" ports? Quote Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Afficionado Posted December 23, 2013 Author Report Posted December 23, 2013 What about 2 6" ports? i don't believe i'd have enough room for that :/ Is the 9" not going to provide enough area? OrionStang Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 Ditch the aero ports and do a slot port between the subs. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Afficionado Posted December 26, 2013 Author Report Posted December 26, 2013 Ditch the aero ports and do a slot port between the subs. i've of course thought about it, but this is only my second box and i'm not very convinced of my box building skills. I also like how easy it is to adjust tuning with a psychoport. any reasons for ditching aeroports?
