Skax Posted January 1, 2014 Report Posted January 1, 2014 well for some reason my amp does not sound good at all after setting my gain (a little over 5 ) pushing 2 p3 15's rf, its beating but not loud at all for some reason i have my punch eq all the way down and my frequency a little over 65 Also: i recently just installed the pac-lc1 and got a pair of rcas and ran from headunit to input and took my sub wires that were plugged in to the headunit and plugged them into the output of the lc1 if that has anything to do with it or if i did it wrong? 2002 Mustang GT Procharged Procharger P1SC Supercharger, 8psi Procharger Intercooler, Headers, Borla Off Road X-Pipe Exhaust, Mass Airflow Upgraded Fuel Injectors SCT Flash Chip (Excaliber II), Throttle Body, Lowering Springs, Carbon Fiber Hood -Front 275/40ZR17 -Rear 315/35ZR17 5.0 Short Shifter 3.55 Gears

Skax Posted January 1, 2014 Author Report Posted January 1, 2014 Question time 1. How did you determine that your gain setting is the proper setting for you? well i used a dmm for 1500 watts at 2ohms so the voltage was 54.77 or somthing close to that but i didnt realise i had my subs all the way up on the headunit when i set the gain so i took the easy way out and unpulled my rcas and just listened for the buzz in my subs and cut it down till there was none 2. Go into a bit more depth when you say it's not sounding good. it doesnt sound like 2 15's it sounds like 2 10's lmao the beat isnt deep and is real faint 3. Specs on box? no idea bought it at radioshack unfourtantley , a mistake on my part but i had no idea how to build one or find somone to build one around my area the 1 person that did wanna build one was charging 250$ i was wondering if it had something to do with the pac-lc1 wiring or was it just my frequency ? 2002 Mustang GT Procharged Procharger P1SC Supercharger, 8psi Procharger Intercooler, Headers, Borla Off Road X-Pipe Exhaust, Mass Airflow Upgraded Fuel Injectors SCT Flash Chip (Excaliber II), Throttle Body, Lowering Springs, Carbon Fiber Hood -Front 275/40ZR17 -Rear 315/35ZR17 5.0 Short Shifter 3.55 Gears

Maybe im to tired and not reading this right. Sub wires from hu to pac output. Shouldn't it be to the pac input or for sub rca's just bypassing the pac. edit: Shouldn't your eq be at 0 or flat, not all the way down. truthsayer
Deven Parent Posted January 1, 2014 Report Posted January 1, 2014 Make sure your positives are in the positive side, and the negatives are on the negative sides. If you have the pos and neg on one speaker right, and wrong on the other, it will sound really bad, they'll move alot, but won't have a tone, that's my guess. SnowDrifter Posted January 1, 2014 Report Posted January 1, 2014 1. Using a DMM on a BDCP amp won't work. Long story short, the amp has some non-conventional circuitry in it. 3. So called "prefab" boxes don't help your issue. If sealed, they are generally too small. If ported, they are too small, tuned too high, with too little port area. Just not enough of anything - they cater to a market of people who want something small without realizing the impact it has on sound and efficiency ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
