Greatest Box Ever..

Recommended Posts

I always see people saying how many square inches of port they have, so I was just wondering how do you figure that out?

I just finished the port on the box for my 18's so I thought I'd ask, if anyone can help it'd be appreciated, my port 11" x 11" and 12.5" deep

width time height.

example: 5" wide port by 20" long = 5 * 20 = 100 square inches or port.

So 11"x11" would 121"? And depth doesn't matter?

depth changes tuning...and depth matters when figuring in displacement...but doesnt matter when finding your port area

so how exactly is do you calculate your tunin

there is a formula that looks a lot more complicated than it really is...

Av = vent area

Lv = effective length of vent (effective length = physical length + end correction <---1/2 of the ports width)

Vb= net volume in cubic inches

Fb = tuning frequency

Fb = .159*((Av(1.84*10^8)/(Vb(Lv+.823*Av^.5))^.5

i likes me some audio stuff...
