Nipsy06
I have a 2000 Buick Lesabre and I am currently hooking up 2 SDC 2.5 12s to an AQ1200d amp. I know my previous system I had wasn't anywhere near this level of power but I noticed my headlights dimming with my previous system. I figure since it happened on the old cheap system it would probably happen on this one. Im still in the process of finishing the build all of this is just a look into the future. Should I purchase 1 xs battery to relpace my stock battery to run my system on or would I need to purchase a xs battery and connect it to the stock battery somehow? Which XS battery should I purchase and how much is it? I am new to installing my own equipment so please break down the stuff for me because again I am new to installing car audio for myself. Thanks Guys!!!!
DubNDodge
Don't mix AGM (xs power) with lead acid (most stock batteries). Some people even say don't mix different brands of AGM batteries. Have you done the big 3 yet? That can be night and day difference in voltage. teamjeffrey
so according to the xs power site the d3400 is the replacement of your stock battery but i would double check the dimensions to make sure it will fit Quote people who have bought from me Team Bassick (ALPINE) Purplehaze nidus head unit sony dsx-s310btxsubs 2 12 incriminator audio king of basssubs amp incriminator audio 20.1mids/highs mids/highs amp incriminator audio 6.4equalizer clarioncrossover interfirealternator 1 mechman 240ampbattery's xs power 1 d2100 2 d3100sky high car audio 1/0 awg ofc wires memphis car audio 1/0 ofcxs power xs flex 4 awg sky high car audio 8 gauge ofc sky high car audio 12 gauge ofc t spec rca check out my building log http://www.stevemead...frey-build-log/http://www.stevemead...d-other-things/check out audio gear i have for salehttp://www.stevemead...51#entry1595151
SnowDrifter
Don't mix AGM (xs power) with lead acid (most stock batteries). Some people even say don't mix different brands of AGM batteries. Have you done the big 3 yet? That can be night and day difference in voltage. Just to clear up battery confusion: AGM is lead/acid. Its battery chemistry. However, most stock batteries are what's called flooded batteries (battery plates are submerged in a pool of electrolyte). And AGMs have a fiberglass matt between the plates that is saturated with the electrolyte. In peak condition, an AGM battery will typically rest around 13v. While a flooded battery is 12.7 or so. Mixing then will cause the AGM to back feed into the flooded battery, trying to equalize voltage. And all that will happen is you discharge your AGM with the car off. In short: keep battery construction the same, and ensure that all the batteries you use are if similar resting voltage Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Nipsy06
So would one XS battery on my car keep my system cool and lights from dimming or would i need more than one battery????
DubNDodge
If you have 0.1V of voltage drop you will notice lights dimming.
