Bump4life Posted January 20, 2014 Report Share Posted January 20, 2014 if yoju dont have tax documents or anything extremely secure just find a formatting program http://download.cnet.com/HDD-Low-Level-Format-Tool/3000-2094_4-75544788.html its free from a reputable source. run this 3-9 times depending how sensitive the data is. be carful, it will wipe all partions and everything on drive. so if you dont know much about computers you probably dont have partitions, which means if you format your c drive, your operating system will be wiped too so id instal this on a disk or have another computer or harddrive to run the machine while you format the drive. also you can run Fdisk. thats a program you can run in the bios or pre windows startup.l i forgot what its called. you need to research a little to get comfortable with it. because if you do it wrong your computer wont have operating system anymore. I get what I need off the old comp. and destroy the old hard drive and toss the rest in the trash. But if you can get a few hundred bucks from it I guess its worth selling. Thats cool.
