Jared420
Almost 2 years ago I had a local shop put on my dual exhaust. I wanted the tips painted black so my mechanic used the high heat rustoleum black paint. He scuffed up the chrome tips pretty well and painted them with 6 coats. The exhaust came out great and the paint looked real good until winter last year. I got a few small chips here and there so last spring/ summer I sanded the area and touched them up with a couple spot coats. Well this winter with all the sand and salt I've gotten many more chipped spots. When spring comes I plan on sanding them down and basically starting over. What will the best way to prevent the cracking and chipping? I was planning on sanding them really well and then using a self etching primer before I repaint them. 2012 silverado ext cab ltz 24" kmc rims AudioQue 2200 Pioneer AppRadio Alpine mrx f35 4 channel Bose mids and highs Iraggi Alt + stock alt in a DC power dual alternator kit Yellowtop+stock under hood 0 gauge Knu wire Big 3 4 gauge stinger (4 chan wiring) 3 DC 10'' LVL3 with LVL4 parts

boom50cal
Take them to an exhaust shop then. Maybe $40 at most. On 1/4/2013 at 9:31 PM, HatersGonnaHate said: Wow. 184 posts and I think you're a fucking asshole.
775Tundra
It will always chip. I bought the one in this link http://m.summitracing.com/parts/jex-jac31212-bv Cost 20 for a shop to weld it. 40 buck and it never chipped. You will spend more time and money painting it the right way. Pioneerchuck
I paid $36.53 at my local exhaust shop to have mine welded on. I got the shorter version of the ones linked above ^ and they've been on since '08. They still look fine and the truck has been all over the country and beat to hell. Holds up much better than any paint will. Edit: About the same price as paint, primer, and supplies all together.
