Actually qts .5 or more do very well in a 4th order. Below .5 is the area to be concerned about however my subs have a qts in the .35 range and they do fine in a 4th order.

Its not that they wont work. They probly would and sound very well. It was that i was told it would cut the life of the sub in half due to the spiders design and the pressure from the sealed section of the box. But we will have are answer tomorrow i hope when they get back to me ^_^

Well I'm wrong (no surprise there) they changed from what they originally told me but here is the exact email they sent me so i do apoligse for my miss information

Allen,

Our woofers do great in a well built 4th or 6th however I wouldn't be able to help much other than our specs as I don't delve much into boxes of that type!

If you're going for a musical build, 2:1 is the way to go, but you might not want to tune the port below 40hz. Just personal experience, you'll cut off everything above 60 if you go that low. Personally, I'd tune in the 50's. If you like, I can give you a couple ideas.

Nah man, it's cuz of the bass.

i think your box volumes are good, best thing is to find the sealed resonance of your subs in that amount of airspace and then tune the ported side to the sealed resonance. If the sealed resonance is too high for what you wanna tune to you can add polyfill (about 1lbs per cbft) and it should lower the sealed resonance a bit. For port area you can start at around half the cone area, maybe a tad on the smaller side of half cone area. Ive also learned the hard way box strength is very important. Build a weak box and youll lose a shit ton of output. Hope it helps
