I think he has to be ticketed at the scene with a failure to yield at the very least for it to be his fault. Usually the cop determines fault at the scene whether he was there or not.

Lesson learned, But the first thing you never do is to take your eye off pedestrians as they literally can get in the path of a vehicle in one step so always make sure traffic is clear and watch for that pedestrian before ever moving or turning corners.

I once had a child pop out from a parked car that i had accidentally hit at a very low speed but still scared the hell out of me none the less, they even tried to get me to not call the police to make a report but i knew something like that could come back at me in more ways than one, so just be careful and watch people on the sides of the street.

Haha Rolex made me laugh. I personally have a lawyer, but my friend did not. At this moment State Farm is dealing with the medical bill. But other then that, we're just waiting for the phone call from the police station to see what they have to sAy about th ladies actions. Like he said, your boy aint going to jail. If he was it would've happened right there on the scene. Usually it takes a dui or dwi for someone to be placed under arrest for striking a pedestrian unless the person did it maliciously. Basically, he won't go to jail, he'll just have a funny story to tell after it's all said and done.

hire a lawyer first and foremost! your friend is in a hurry up and wait kinda thing. when she gets checked out by a doctor you will have your answer. if she's fine your in the clear. theres nothing she can do. if she Is hurt which i doubt it you'll have to cover her med bills. I'm guessing shes old wasnt paying attention and ended up on the hood of a car. she got up because she was fine then she realized what happened And saw dollar sings! what.she doesn't understand is its.very hard to sue for emotional stress and all the bs people make up to try and rip others off. i was sued 5 years ago. i had my 2 year old boxer off his Leash playing with my Lil Bro 4 Lil kids 2-5yrs old And a puppy black lab. this 16yr girl came walking over with her 2 Lil rat dogs. boxer his name is cash went over to greet them. when she saw him she started yelling and screaming for me to grab him. so i started jogging over while saying he's really nice he's just a puppy. well he got to her and the 2 rat dogs before i could. as my dog approached she kicked my dog in the head then picked one of her dogs off the ground. as she bent over the other Lil rat latched on to my dogs face and started shaking. my dog then flung the dog to the ground and started shaking the shit out of it. her dog weighed maybe 8lbs mine was over 80lbs. my dog had the other dog for maybe a full second. this whole thing happened in less then 8 seconds. well end of the story the little rat Dog lost its eye. ( i felt and still feel terrible) if she didn't freak out my dog would have sniffed then and Gave them kisses. sincemy dog wasnt on a leash i had to pay for the med bills $1,600 but she rtried to sue Me for almost $6,000 she claimed that she had to move because she had to come up with that money so she couldn't pay her rent. so she wanted me to pretty much cover her rent and security deposit she also claimed emotional distress, sleeplessness, anxiety all sorts of bullshit. her big black boyfriend tried shaking me down to. when we finally got to Court she showed up late in sweat pants and tried to do the fake cry shit. in the end it was pretty awesome because the judge saw right threw all her bs. she didn't get anything but the money for the med bills And the judge called her out on all the stress shit and told her " your a grown women seems like you have bigger problems then your dog" "seems like you want this young man to fix everything that's wrong in your life" it was awesome! sorry for the long Post but i Hope this will help you and your friend realize that its not the end of the world shit happens.

You were pretty much on point on how the grandma reacted. Straight up $$$ signs when she realize what happened, then kept saying she couldn't get up.

What was also funny was when I ran out to check on her, she was speaking english fine. Then when she started to say she couldn't get up, she was saying it like she didn't know English and tried speaking Chinese to me. And my friend would ask her questions like "does anything hurt" and she would start speaking Chinese then only say in English "can't get up" in a poor English tone. But when the cops come, straight A+ English student speaking pure. So I'm like DA FUCK. But idk. Haven't heard from my friend yet.
