He and most of you seem to think that carefully retapping to the larger size should be fine as long as i don't try to tap too fast and i use proper lubrication with all the tapping techniques I've found around on the DIY internet. Dad also mentioned the helicoil thing too but suggested re tapping slightly larger first. He also told me to be very careful to only go wider.. not deeper as to not puncture any part of the battery.
